This is a large park but does not seem so as it is stretched out along the bay so that there are many waterfront sites as well as those with partial views of the water. The bay is quite shallow here though, so it is mostly rocks and seaweed at lower tide levels. The campground has been carved into a sloping and rocky terrain, but the sites are grassy and level with some shaded sites. Some of the sites on the level nearest the waterfront were pretty muddy from recent rains. There is shuttlebus service to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor, but the drive is about 20 minutes. Nice evening activities as well. We would return to this campground.
This was an OK campground. Mostly seasonal campers and they get all the nicer sites. On check in we were given 2 pages of rules for "itinerant" campers including a release for any photos taken which include us. It was insulting. This list of what not to put into the dumpster was ridiculously long. Our site was deep and very wooded with a sand and gravel pad. The Wi-Fi was only available near the store in a small room furnished with junky chairs and tables. There are several laundry rooms. The one I used had 8 washers, 6 were out of order. The room was grungy and had no space for folding and the change machine was out of order. This staff were friendly and helpful but clearly were primarily concerned with the seasonal campers.
This campground has beautiful grassy sites, nicely placed shade trees, good family activity options and a friendly staff. Wi-Fi is available at each site for a small fee. TV reception using an antenna was good. We stayed in a 5th wheel and had plenty of room for our truck and slideouts in the spacious site. The interstate is nearby but most of the noise is absorbed by the trees and rolling landscape. I would stay here again.
The setting of this campground is beautiful with huge pine trees and large sites. We camped there in September and it was very dark and chilly due to heavy shade, but would be nice on a hot summer day. Most of the sites were seasonal and some were somewhat run down. WI-Fi was available near the office in a gazebo with a couple of park benches. The campground was secured with a key card and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would return in the summer.
This campground offers really good views of the White Mountains. The grassy sites are terraced into a large hill which overlooks a valley and then a range of mountains. It was beautiful. That being said, this is a campground which has become a little worn around the edges. Everything is clean and nicely landscaped, but the picnic tables are wobbly, the signs are rusty, and the buildings all need a coat of paint. It was still a great place to stay with many good pull-through sites and some great sites for tenting in the woods. The owners were friendly and helpful. The campground was very quiet and did not get highway noise. We would go back again.
This campground is across the river from Montreal in a rural area. It is quiet, has wonderful big trees, and yet is only 5 minutes from a shopping center. It is about a 20-minute drive to downtown Montreal on a weekend. We took the metro from a station 15 minutes away from the campground to get to Montreal during the week. The sites are wide, grassy and well shaded. The owners provided really good printed instructions to get to public transportation and shopping. They were very helpful and friendly. We would go again.
